Discogs to launch music tech marketplace, Gearogs, next month

Paypal at the ready, folks...

Discogs is set to enter the music technology world next month with the launch of a new dedicated online marketplace called Gearogs.

Discogs founder and CEO Kevin Lewandowski dropped the news in an interview with Thump, saying “I’ve been focusing on what we call our meta-projects, like applying the Discogs concept to other things.

"We’ve started [a music gear database] Gearogs, because gear is so close to records. We’re launching a marketplace in April.”

The site is currently in operation as database, but users will be able to buy and sell equipment as of next month.

According to the Gearogs front page, it aims "to be the largest database of audio equipment on the planet.

"With your help we'll list every turntable, audio recorder, amplifier, effects pedal, microphone, and every other piece of audio gear conceived," continues the site. "Any equipment that records, amplifies, mixes, or reproduces audio, belongs here."
